I’m becoming accustomed to it though. This afternoon I actually chose napping on the floor over my wonderful bed.

It’s good that you’re going through your options early and I’m happy to help.
The course you’re doing doesn’t really effect which college (residency) you choose, it all comes down to personal preference.
Chisholm College is the most affordable and has the largest percentage of international students. There’s also an international support group at Chisholm that runs day trips to some of the more touristy destinations in Melbourne and is also a really good way to make new friends.
Menzies college is known for their party reputation and they’re a lot more sport orientated than the other colleges. Rent there costs slightly more, but gives you unlimited access the Menzies gym.
Glenn college is the most expensive college but they provide 2-3 meals 5 days a week.
I live at Chisholm, and I can definitely assure you there are quite a lot of students from Canada and America living on residency here. I also know quite a few people doing nursing (although I’m sure there’s an equal distribution in other colleges too). If partying isn’t your style, you can always request to be put in a quiet building. But throughout all the colleges you have the option of reporting any excessively loud noises and a duty residential assistant will take care of it.
Over all what ever college you decide on I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun :) Everyone here is friendly and extremely supportive.

(On an unrelated note, I deleted my rant post because one of the guys explained everything to me on a psychological level that got me lolling for ages to the point where I had a stitch and now everything is good. BFFs once more. Also immensely impressed at his mind skillz. He should have his own day time tv show and handlebar moustache.)

I just got into a semi-shit fight with this dude at uni who is the (self-described) ‘king of stalkerspace.’ I called him a misogynistic dickhead for supporting The Australian Sex Party. He called me a bitch. Point proven. I told him to get fucked and die in a ditch. Oh yeahh. Life rules.
